The Indian cricket team is currently one of the world's most competitive teams. One of the reasons for this is former Indian captain MS Dhoni, who kept the team united and gave them a new energy, the foundation of the team's current success was laid.

Jharkhand-born hard-hitter, which is undoubtedly one of the most influential players in all three formats of the world and the best finisher in the men in blue.


Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is going to celebrate his 38th birthday. He is currently part of the Indian team at the World Cup in England in 2019. As a captain, he has won almost all ICC trophies to India. In his captaincy in 2011, India finished the World Cup's 27-year drought. For the past few years, he has created a different legacy of his own.

Dhoni was born on July 7, 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, to Pan Singh and Devaki Devi.He has one sister Jayanti and one brother Narendra Singh Dhoni. Basically his family was from Almora district of Uttarakhand. He studied at DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir School in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Initially, during his school days, he played badminton and football and he was the goalkeeper of the football team. Once, he was sent by his football coach to play cricket for a local cricket club. Where he impressed everyone with his wicket-keeping skills, as a result he got the regular post of wicketkeeper in the Commando Cricket Club. From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Kharagpur Railway Station under Mid East Railway in Midnapore (W). He was selected to play for the Indian cricket team in 2004, where he played his ODI match against Bangladesh in Chittagong.

Dhoni started his career by playing for the Bihar Under-19 team in 1998. He also played for the East Zone Under-19 team. In 1999-2000, he started playing for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy. His spectacular performances in the Deodhar Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Kenya tour of India attracted the attention of national selectors.


HIS ACHIEVEMENTS ARE:



  • He has also got Man of the Series and Man of the Match Awards on several occasions. In 2008, he got his first Test Man of the Match award against Australia. In 2005-06, he received his first Man of the Series award in Sri Lanka in India's ODI series. He has also received the ICC Player of the Year Award for many consecutive years in 2008 and 2009, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 2007 and the Padma Shri award in 2009.
  • MS Dhoni is the only Indian captain who has convinced India to win all three major ICC matches. Having won the T20 World Cup for the team for the first time in 2007, led the Indian team in 2011, won the World Cup on home ground and won the 2013 Champions Trophy. India were the only team in the 2013 Champions Trophy which did not lose a single match. In the final, India defeated England by 5 runs and the trophy was their name.
  • In the captaincy of Dhoni, India achieved the top position in the Test Cricket Rankings for the first time in 2009. Dhoni is the most successful Indian Test captain with 27 Test wins, who broke Sourav Ganguly's 21 record. MS Dhoni is the only non-Australian captain who has led his team in more than 100 matches. He is also the third captain to win 100 matches after Ricky Ponting and Alan Border. The rest were both Australian captains.
  • He broke the record of Adam Gilchrist by scoring the highest score of 183 by a wicketkeeper. Dhoni is the fourth Indian batsman and the second wicketkeeper batsman to reach 10,000 ODI runs after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. At the same time, the first Indian wicket-keeper batsman to reach 4000 Test runs in the Test match He is the only ODI captain who played at number seven and scored a century. They did this while playing against Pakistan in December 2012.
  • In his captaincy, India reached the highest Test score of 726-9.
  • There is also a record of maximum stumping done by an Indian wicketkeeper in an innings of Dhoni's name. Dhoni has the highest stumping (38) by any wicket-keeper in the Test career.
  • On 1 November 2011, the Indian Territorial Army honored Dhoni with honorary rank Lt Colon, after which Dhoni became the only captain to receive this prestigious award after Kapil Dev.
  • He was named as the captain of the ICC World Test XI in 2009, 2010 and 2013. He has been selected 8 times in the ICC World ODI XI team and as captain for 5 times.


RETIREMENT AS A CAPTAIN


After the drawn test between India and Australia in Melbourne, Dhoni announced his retirement from International Cricket on December 30, 2014. And they tried to focus better on ODIs and T-20 matches. However, on 04 January 2017, he withdrew from the post of captain of Indian ODI and T20I cricket teams.
