WOMEN GOT SENTENCE TO DEATH

In India, death sentence can only be given in "rare
cases from rare", and it is also rare for the convicted woman to be
sentenced to death. The most recent example is Nalini, a woman who was
convicted of the murder of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Her sentence was
heard in 2000.
Ratan Bai Jain was the first woman of independent India who
was sentenced to death. For the killing of three children, he was given death
sentence in 1955. Nobody at that time knew that he would be the last Indian
woman to be hanged for 62 years - until 1996.

However, the two sisters I have been talking about are Gavit
sisters, who together with their mother, brutally murdered many children. Gavit
sisters are Seema Gavit and Renuka Shinde and her mother is Anjanbai Gavit.
It all started in 1990 when Mother (Anjanbai Gavit) often
used to steal small things with her two daughters. One day, elder sister Renuka
tried to rob someone in a temple and the people caught her. She was with her 1
year old child, Santosh. When the crowd questioned her, she swore by her child
and asked the people to let them go, and said that any woman with whom a child
is a child can do any crime, and people let her go. It was a turning point when
these women realized that if they have children with them, it is easy to steal.
These women started abducting children (between 1 and 5
years of age) in entire Maharashtra since 1990, used them for theft and then
brutally killed them all. From 1990 to 1996, they kidnapped about 43 children. Abducting
and deaths took place between 1990 and 1996 in Pune, Kolhapur and Nashik
districts of Maharashtra. The state police could prove the killing of only 13
children out of 43 in the court. It is not that he was mentally unstable,
because he did all the killings very strategically.
One day, when people caught the Seema while stealing, Renuka
was standing with a child named Santosh. When people began beating the Seema,
Renuka threw the child suddenly on the floor to disturb the crowd. Santosh
started to bleed a lot but Gavit sisters used this opportunity and fled from
there. Anjanbai knew that Santosh is of no use and that they can be trapped in
it, so she killed Santosh so that he could not tell anyone.

In 1996, the police arrested 25-year-old Seema Gavit, Renuka
Shinde, her husband Kiran Shinde and girls' mother Anjanbai Gavit. Happened in
1996, Anjanbai planned to kill her Ex-husband's daughter. But unfortunately,
the police arrested those three. At the time of the arrest, Renuka was 29 years
old and the limit was 25 years. During the investigation process, many
children's clothes and toys were found in his house, thereby making the police
suspect some of the suspects and the whole case was investigated.
None of the two sisters was ready to confess, but after the
police interrogation, the Seema confessed all their crimes. It has created a
big hike in our country, especially in Maharashtra. Police filed a case of
murder of 13 children and made Kiran Shinde (husband of the border) a
government witness.
Kolhapur Court in 2001 decided to hang the two, which was
upheld by the Supreme Court in 2014. Even the President refused his mercy
petition in 2014. Despite this, they has not been hanged till today, and I do
not know why is not done.
Anjanbai was the biggest culprit in this whole case, she was
arrested earlier in the Railway Station for the 125 theft cases, including
cutting of pockets of people around him and snatching gold chain from people's
neck. Gavit sisters were inducted into their lives by their mother, who taught
them to cut pockets during crowded market places and religious festivals in
small towns of entire Maharashtra. Anjanbai died in 1997 after one year of her
arrest.
It was the biggest crime in Indian history according to a
lot of people.
